Florida man wins Hemingway honors
A Florida man was declared the most Hemingway-like face in the annual Hemingway Look-Alike Contest in Key West.
Matt Gineo of Jupiter Beach parlayed his white beard and fisherman’s sweater into the top honors at Sloppy Joe’s, the real Hemingway’s old hangout.
Gineo was named the winner from a jolly field of bearded competitors who traveled from as far away as Southern California, Detroit and Norway for the party honoring the macho American author.
Sloppy Joe’s said in a written statement that Gineo and Dennis Golden of Rockport, Mass., were tied after Saturday’s voting, the first time there has been a deadlock after the semifinals.
