‘Looper’ Review & Discussion (VIDEO) SPOILERS!

Synopsis: In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a looper a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good until the day the mob decides to close the loop, sending back Joes future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. R

Community flavor at Boatyard Bar and Grill

What does the sailing community in Eastport love? It loves the Boatyard Bar and Grill.

Dick Frayno opened the Boatyard Bar and Grill in the Eastport district of Annapolis in 2001. Cozy and charming, with plenty of dining and shopping options, Eastport has grown in popularity since then, and the Boatyard has established itself as a community hub for residents and tourists, and an unofficial headquarters for the city’s sailing community.

I think it must be outsiders who come to Annapolis looking for Chesapeake-focused cuisine. The locals, or at least those flocking to the Boatyard, don’t seem to care too much.

Amanda Bynes Gets 30 Days In Rehab

What the hell is Amanda Bynes thinking? She a maniac when she’s behind the wheel. She’s been involved in more than one hit-and-run incident and even after her license was suspended, she continued to drive recklessly. Thankfully, the Los Angeles Police Department finally impounded her vehicle. Now, according to various reports, the once likable star is headed to rehab.;   It’s sad because I remember watching Amanda on the popular Nickelodeon series The Amanda Show. She used to make me laugh so hard that I would choke. Even just a few years ago, I was praising her for keeping her cool and not letting stardom get the best of her. Now, she’s following down the same path as Lindsay Lohan. She’s been all over the tabloids as of late and frankly, it hurts. We expect better from you, Amanda.   In any case, reports say that Bynes plans to check in to a Southern California rehab center on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. T Read more…

The Hypnotist, which was first published in Swedish in 2009 by a husband and wife writing team, introduces Joona Linna, a dogged and charmingly self-assured and indeed hunky Detective Inspector with Swedens National Criminal Investigation Department. Linna winds up investigating the gruesome murder of a family which has left one survivor, a fifteen-year-old boy who is barely alive when the book begins. Linna calls in a therapist for help, Erik Maria Bark, who specializes in cases involving acute trauma. Bark used to use hypnosis in group therapy sessions, but he has since sworn off hypnosis–for reasons that are eventually explained.

Composer Argento endows professorship at Eastman School

American composer Dominick Argento, whose opera The Aspern Papers will be revived by the Dallas Opera next April, has committed $1.5 million to the Eastman School of Music to endow a named professorship. Argento, who celebrates his 85th birthday in October, received a PhD in composition from Eastman in 1958.
The Dallas Opera, which commissioned The Aspern Papers, is reviving it in observance of its 25th anniversary. The company also mounted the composers Voyage of Edgar Allan Poe in in 1992 and The Dream of Valentino two years later.
