Theatrical dance on the telly is always a tricky proposition. Producers are inevitably caught between the Scylla of keeping the camera stock still, thereby giving an authentic audience-member’s point of view but rendering everyone on stage minuscule, and the Charybdis of following individual dancers in detail, thereby striking the rest from view.
In BBC Four’s broadcast of the Pet Shop Boys’ and choreographer Javier de Frutos’s recent creation The Most Incredible Thing (after Hans Christian Andersen), it was the bigger numbers that came across best, with de Frutos’s kaleidoscopic geometries gracefully filling the screen as the Boys’ slick beats pounded away.

NEW YORK (AP) — NBC says the four musician-coaches who have helped make “The Voice” a summer hit will be back for the next round of the vocal competition.
NBC said Thursday that Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will all return when “The Voice” resumes in midseason next year.
The series concluded its first cycle on Wednesday. It features these musician-coaches (don’t call them judges) working with the vocalists throughout the competition.
A major success for NBC, “The Voice” ranked in third and fifth place in viewers last week.
